About the Role

The janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment within the facilities of the organization. This position involves routine cleaning tasks, waste removal, and basic maintenance duties to ensure a sanitary and organized space for employees and visitors.

Reports To: Director of Operations
Compensation: Hourly $19.00 -$22.00
Travel Requirements: 10%

Requirements

Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine cleaning tasks, including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting.

  • Empty and dispose of trash and recycling bins regularly.

  • Clean and sanitize restrooms and replenish supplies as needed.

  • Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies.

  • Assist in minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and fixing minor plumbing issues.

  • Report any maintenance or safety issues to the appropriate department.

  • Follow established safety procedures and guidelines.

  • Cooperate with other staff members to ensure a clean and safe working environment.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

  • Identify key opportunities, challenges, and trends in the field and adjust strategies accordingly.


Required Skills/ Abilities:

  • Knowledge of cleaning procedures, equipment, and materials.

  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.

  • Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing tasks.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Ability to meet deadlines.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • none


Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma, or GED


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.

  • Capable of performing physical tasks, including lifting, pushing, and pulling.

  • Ability to use cleaning equipment and tools.

  • Good vision and manual dexterity.

  • Physical strain from lifting and moving program materials
